What it's like

White-sand beach with a shallow lagoon on Giftun island; only licensed boats can land and visitor numbers are controlled. Group boats give about 1.5 to 2 hours on the beach, and reef snorkelling is at separate stops because there is no coral right off the beach. Operators quote about 20 to 25 minutes by speedboat and 45 to 60 minutes by day boat from Hurghada Marina.
